【摘要】
Achieving the ambitious targets set out by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in their 2023 greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy requires tapping into all sources of potential contributions and investing considerable efforts and resources. The IMO decision to aim at decarbonisation of international shipping by 2050 is a clear confirmation of the initiative taken by WinGD already a few years ago to engage in the development of new products and solutions that allow realising significant progress towards this overall goal. In particular, this includes the extension of the engine portfolio by establishing completely new product lines fit for the application of renewable fuels such as methanol and ammonia. In the development of the new X-DF-M and X-DF-A engines, strong emphasis is put on maintaining or even exceeding the high efficiency levels of the existing X and X-DF product lines, without accepting any compromise in terms of reliability, operational safety, and environmental footprint. This is achieved by following a rigorous development process, starting from fundamental investigations into the combustion of the new fuels, then progressing to the layout and design of the respective fuel admission and combustion systems, their validation on dedicated testbeds in order to confirm their performance both in terms of component and system operation and impact on combustion behaviour, before applying them to lab test and ultimately prototype engines for final verification and optimisation. In parallel, substantial efforts are also made to further enhance the performance of the existing X and X-DF product lines, in order to ensure their continued viability for the application of renewable diesel-like and methane-based fuels, respectively, and also prepare them for the application in a CO2 recycling economy. Moreover, the close integration of the WinGD engines in more advanced complete energy systems as well as smart solutions holds the promise of realising additional overall optimisation potential, thus contributing even more to the overarching target of decarbonising international shipping.
